At Delton Early Learning, we believe children learn best through play. Our approach is rooted in the idea that young children thrive when they explore, experiment, and engage in hands-on, meaningful activities – including a bit of risky; play that builds confidence and skills for life. This philosophy draws inspiration from pioneering thinkers like Friedrich Froebel (the founder of kindergarten), Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and the Reggio Emilia approach, who all emphasized that children construct knowledge through active, sensory experiences and social interactions rather than rote instruction.
We follow The Emergent Curriculum Model: Our qualified, long-term Educators carefully observe children’s interests, conversations, and play patterns. From there, they intentionally design activities, set up engaging classroom environments, and plan experiences that build on what the children are naturally curious about. This makes learning deeply personal, process- focused, and joyful – because when children follow their own interests and needs, the learning sticks!
We are fully inclusive, creating a safe, supportive space where every child – regardless of background or abilities – can grow and succeed.
We walk our school-aged children to Delton Elementary School (right across the street!), and we welcome bus-ins from nearby schools like Northmount, Scott Robertson, Victoria, and Ben Calf Robe.
Our in-house hot lunches and snacks are nutritious, fresh, and made fresh every day. We follow Canada’s Food Guide and Alberta’s Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth to ensure balanced, healthy meals that fuel growing bodies and minds.
We use evidence-based, positive, age-appropriate methods to guide behaviour. Our focus is on helping children develop self-regulation, social skills, and respectful interactions. Techniques include prevention, redirection, encouragement, modeling, discussion, and problem-solving – always with warmth and respect.
